If you have a question on how to use the wiki, please post it hear and hopefully someone will answer it in reasonably short order.

Question: How do I delete a file from the wiki ?

Answer: Contact Allen Stryczek or Peter Locke who can log in with "super powers"

  1. Click the "Special pages" link in the toolbox area
  2. Scroll down to the "Media Reports and Uploads" section and click on the File List
  3. Click the document you want to delete
  4. Click the delete tab and delete the file


Question: How do I include a file or image in a article?

Answer:

  1. Click the "Upload file" link in the toolbox area
  2. Click Browse button to select the file
  3. Click Upload
  4. Click the "Special pages" link in the toolbox area
  5. Scroll down to the "Media Reports and Uploads" section
  6. Click on "File List"
  7. Copy the name of the file to be attached to a particular section of the wiki
  8. Go the appropriate page of the wiki, and get in "edit" mode
  9. Add one of the following two statements to the appropriate articles based on the file type. To view the statements, view this page in edit mode. Similar statements are also displayed in the Upload File page.



Question: How do I add a table to a page?

Answer: There are a number of ways. Copy the below from the edit screen or reference this link for more detailed directions. http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Table#Plain

Question: How do I add a new page to the wiki?

Answer: Step 1. Edit the Main page and add the name of the new document. Put [[ ]] around it so it appears as a link Step 2. Save the page Step 3. Click the new document name. This will take you to a new blank page. Start to type Step 4. Save your new page.


Question: How do I create a bullet?

Answer: Use * before your sentence.


Question: How do I create a numbered list?

Answer: Use # before your sentence


Question: Can I be notified when changes are made to specific sections/pages?

Answer: Yes, when in edit mode select "Watch this page" at the bottom of the screen. If this does not show up it means that you are not logged in. You must also enable emailing preferences by clicking Special Pages (left hand column) and then clicking Preferences. At the bottom of the Preference page select the appropriate emailing options. The top one is probably the most relevant.


Question: Must I be logged in to edit pages?

Answer: Yes!


Question: How do I change the titles of sections on the lower half of the main page without wiping out the contents of the information behind those sections? For example, I would like to change the "Cleaning" section to "Cleaning the Neighborhood".

Answer: Click on the page that you want to re-title. Click on the "Move" tab at the top of the page and then re-name the tab - this will redirect the previous page to the new page. Then edit the page on which the title exists, and replace the old title with the new title. (I answered my own question after stumbling on the resolution about 3 hours later !)
